Tough Muffin is a simple blog devoted to baking. As its author, I claim no expertise in this art, only a love for its practice. This blog is my way of welcoming you to experience my culinary adventures with me as I walk the road to becoming the kind of baker I’d like to be.  I hope to, over time, have a grand collection of lessons, recipes, and baking adventures ready to share with you.

So welcome and thank you for stopping by.  Visit often!  I will be updating weekly.

About Me

I’m a California girl; a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley; a blue and gold girl, through and through.  Two other places I’ve called home are Mozambique, Africa and Taipei, Taiwan.  Two is too few, I aim to do much more traveling in my lifetime.  I’m self taught in all-things-kitchen.  My favorite thing to make is (hands-down) the chiffon cake – I’ve made this over 35 times and am still working out the perfect recipe. My other great loves include writing and the Great Outdoors.  I will run and ski any terrain with you, you need only ask.  I love stars, great books and great photography. When I’m stressed, you’ll undoubtedly find me at Rancho San Antonio (an open reserve by my house) – on my 6th mile or asleep in my car.

But enough about me. If you’ve stopped by, please say hello! You can comment at the end of any post. I’d love to hear from you.

A special thanks to my three friends, without whom you’d be staring at a very ugly blog. To Old Armstrong, for the idea, set-up and design of this beautiful website. To Mike Chien, for being its gracious host. And to Allen Choi, for drawing that mean little Tough-Muffin in the right-hand corner.

Check ‘em out!  They each have a website that will really knock your socks off!
